Q3 things Aug 30 This is an old picture of Addison when he was first adopted. Laura and Eph Helton are their names – live in KY. Just received a check in Addison’s memory – her son left the gate open and he got out of the yard and was HBC & killed instantly – wow I thought that only happened in AXA! They adopted another dog Hamilton two weeks ago from a US shelter. We need to put something in the next newsletter and probably post on FB too re his fund – “Addison’s Food Fund” of which we will just use to pay our boarding fees at Morlens. They just sent a check for $250 and plan to send $75 a month. She asked me why it wasn’t in this newsletter and I told her it covered the second quarter. Will work on that soon. Suzie Mark, Something else to flash on our web page - we have our first matching donation, done by Jane's new family!! She donated $125 and her company approved a matching donation - checks went in the mail last evening to our AARC FL address. Since many individuals wait until year end to dole out their donations, can you do a big push of encouragement for this in the coming weeks? I'm trying to get the bank to agree to allow checks to be sent directly to them for deposit, thus avoiding the lag in my sister picking up mail - our C/S rep is checking and will get back to me. The only iffy point is making sure we know where the money is coming from if they do the processing. Ideas?? In last week's photo batch I sent two pics in particular, noting "for Mark" - and I didn't get a reply! Are my candid photos not as funny anymore? --------------- Duke of Edinburgh Awards programme 2012As a continuing part of the Duke of Edinburgh Awards programme, AARF has benefitted from the assistance of students from the Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive School ( ALHCS ) in the capacity of shelter volunteers. Not only did the students obtain experience and knowledge of animal care, but they also gained the value of teamwork. Some of the students who chose AARF as their volunteer activity for the Programme decided not to continue participating at the shelter after they had completed their designated number of hours required. However, a few did, and they were the ones who chose to lend a hand during their summer vacation from school : Paul Trim, Javier Richardson and Kevon Proctor, etc. With the start of a the current school year, AARF has welcomed a number of new ALHCS students : Phoebe Coppin, Shakirie Niles, Willine Richardson, Rashida Armory,Kedishya MacDonna and Venrick Hodge, all helping to enrich not only their lives, but also those of our very deserving kittens and puppies in need of a forever home.
